Role

Network Engineers are typically career oriented technical engineers who are focused on Data Center network core switching and routing IP technologies while having four to six years of experience in this specific field and can display highly disciplined and refined direct customer support skills. These individuals primarily serve as the escalation point for Tier 2 support and managing incidents while also fulfilling duties such as a technical lead for customer implementations, ensuring projects are completed on-time with a high level of quality and customer satisfaction, and delivering standard maintenance processes and objectives.

Responsibilities

The Data Center Network Engineer provides daily operational engineering support and implementation of the specific Data Center network initiatives within Customer network of data centers globally. This position supports global operations for the purpose of providing consistent operations and infrastructure resiliency across platforms and fabric that also align with customer needs and strategic business direction during regular local business hours. This position is responsible for learning, understanding, and adhering to Customer's established in-house engineering design standards and implementation of designed technology within established SOPs. The Network Engineer will function as a project technical lead (Project Engineer) additionally as needed for any project designed by the team. Duties will further include guiding and executing break-fix remediation efforts in an ITIL framework as an escalation point. The Network Engineer is a key player and manages the work of technical service providers to achieve operational continuity across multiple technology infrastructures for multi-tenant data centers. The Network Engineer will be a key player in supporting and troubleshooting a predominantly SAP based suite of applications and the unique communications requirements of customized SAP applications transiting the Data Center architectures and will participate in an after hours on-call rotation.

Technical

4-6+ years combined experience in technical hands-on design, implementation and support of medium to large IT Data Center operations
4-6+ Years of experience in all aspects of IP Data Networking such as:
o Network certifications: CCNA, CCDA or CCNP
o IP routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IP Multicast or MPLS
o Network protocols: TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, IMAP, SNMP & DNS, HSRP
o EtherChannel, STP, QoS
2+ Years experience in all aspects of Data Security such as:
o Cisco CCSP, CheckPoint CCSE or CISSP certification
o Security protocols: SSH, HTTP/STTPS, FTP/SFTP, SMTP or Telnet
o Analyze Capture/Traces against OSI Model
o Knowledge of Multilayer traffic filtering & vulnerability remediation
o Cisco ASA/Check Point/VPN- F5/Nortel/Proxy appliances- BlueCoat
Physical layer: Carrier demarc, Ethernet, optical OCx, SONET, T1/T3, and trunking
3+ years experience in adherence to ITIL processes
Coordinating and supervising all release activities into production environment
Automating systems monitoring tasks using industry standard monitoring tools

Business

Provide accurate consultative expertise to customers as needed.
3rd level operational support for High-Severity incidents and high risk issues and remediation.
Ownership of Sev. 1 escalations (once escalated to Network Engineering) and functions as "Incident Commander" to resolution
Pivotal technical person to drive Problem Management and flag/resolve chronic operational problems by providing analytical triaging, technical support and managing service providers
Drive and technically support operational infrastructure (design, installations, configurations, maintenance) upgrades and service improvements. Daily interactions with Customer's service providers to technically support SLA Delivery, RFP, SOW, POC, etc. as an integrator
Key resource to implement security recommendations from vendors and industry security standards best practices
ITIL/ETOM or Equivalent framework experience and/or certification

Education/Experience

B.S./B.A. or equivalent degree in addition to vendor or product certifications. Military leadership duties will also be recognized.
