Major Features / Requirements
* The CAN-Splitter module consist only of HW components without any ?C function
* No software will be used to implement the functionality on the module
* A FPGA or similar integrated circuit will be used
* There is no mechanism implemented which directly indicates a trouble if there is fault on a CAN segment
* In this case the VdS compliant supervision mechanism of the devices directly (e.g. Keypad) or indirectly (e.g detector via LSN) connected ensures that the necessary troubles/alarms are indicated
* There is no data buffering within the module
* The physical signals on the different CAN segments are synchronous with respect to the timing requirements request by the CAN specification
* The CAN-Splitter needs to be in the panel enclosure as the CAN communication line is not redundant (VdS )
* The baud rate of the external CAN is configurable: 50k Bit/s, 80k Bit/s and 125k Bit/s
* Extended voltage tolerance (± 35V): transceivers in the CAN-Splitter have to provide the same voltage tolerance like already used CAN-transceivers (AMIS-42665)
* The existing CAN-connector concept includes a common ground line for all CAN devices of the system. If the CAN-Splitter solution provides only the two CAN communication lines the grounding concept of the system (incl. ground fault detection) has to be reviewed / updated
* The CAN-Splitter module behaves like a single physical line with redundancy function Standards & Norms The following standards and norms have to be fulfilled by the CAN splitter system solution:
* CE/EMC
* EN V Radio equipment in the frequency range 9 kHz to 25 MHz and inductive loop systems
* EN V Radio equipment in the frequency range 9 kHz to 25 MHz and inductive loop systems
* EN Electromagnetic Compatibility for Alarm Systems; VdS2110 is testing this standard
* EN Low Voltage Directive, Safety
* EN Radiated Emission; substitute for EN 55022
* VdS (functional aspects)
* No specific requirements in addition closely related to a CAN-Splitter
* EN (functional aspects)
* No specific requirements in addition compared to VdS regulations
* CE and VdS requirements cover fully the EN requirements
