Aufgabe:Phase 1:
There is a number of scripts to automate common system administration tasks in these environments, but they are all written in BASH and do not have sufficent error checking, documentation and lack resiliency. Some examples of these scripts include:
- Setting up MySQL (and NoSQL) databases on systems and loading the data relevant to a specific test case.
- Restarting/repairing Database Replication issues.
- Provisioning the systems through the VMware API and keeping our inventory databases up to date.
Phase 2:
We plan to build some sort of a very simple customized ticket system/support database that will help us identify common issues and track what we are doing.
Phase 3:
Currently, our team spends a lot of time managing these systems. Are key time magnets are:
- Cleaning up the environment to keep our disk and memory usage reasonable
- Managing the VMware cluster and balancing load between storage and servers
Anforderung:
- VMware (4 and 5)
- Writing scripts against the vSphere API
- Writing scripts that manage data and replication of data within MySQL (MongoDB, RIAK, Elastic
Search and SOLR get bonus points)
- Very strong skills in either Python or Ruby, or better would be both.
- Experience writing code that interacts with users both through the command line and the web browser. (You should have some concept of front-ends and user interfaces)
- Very good UNIX/Linux skills
- understanding bash-scripts
- Solution oriented/get things done mindset
