BACKGROUND
There is a need to ensure that the information and graphics associated with pharma product packaging is correct and complies with global and country-specific regulations. Digital Vision Control Systems are a set of four software tools which support the verification of the text and graphical content of packaging artwork content at different stages of the artwork creation and final printing processes. The aim is to reduce artwork recalls and reduce artwork lead time.
This open position is for an Application Support Engineer to become expert in one of the software tools in the DVCS portfolio (Text Verification Tool (TVT)) and be responsible for aspects of the tool including change request management, training and best practice to increase the usage and efficiency of the tool amongst the Novartis PharmOps community worldwide. TVT compares text, typically between an approved MS Word document and a ready-for-print pdf, across a wide range of languages using Unicode as the basis for the the comparison.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Application Support Engineer will:
• Become an expert and maintain his/her expertise in all aspects of the TVT software tool
• Provide guidance and support for user questions or problems related to TVT using Novartis standard procedures and tools
• Liaise with 1st and 4th level support to ensure all incident and problem tickets are resolved satisfactorily within prescribed time limits
• Maintain a good understanding of the other tools in the DVCS portfolio
• Provide guidance and support for user questions or problems related to other DVCS tools when required and/ or when the relevant DVCS tool expert is not available
• Support the training of users in how to use the tool, including creating and maintaining training materials such as manuals, website, e-learning, webinars, FAQs, newsletters and so on
• Actively contribute to DVCS Business User Communities, Business Reference Groups and Best Practice Meetings
• Actively participate in DVCS project meetings and activities including DVCS Service Desk Reviews and Positive Control evaluations
• Collate, evaluate and prioritize incident tickets and user feedback for potential change requests, including obtaining approval from the tool Business Reference Group
• Undertake end-to-end responsibility for tool changes including bug fixes using the DVCS application Change Management Process and liaising with 4th Level support
• Prepare and carry out appropriate tests, scripts and all validation documentation according to standard procedures
• Evaluate new versions and parameter settings of DVCS applications
• Conduct impact analyses with Artwork Operations, IT and the tool Business Reference Group to establish the impact of any changes on global and local business processes
KEY COMPETENCIES
• Understanding of software-based analysis tools
• Tangible experience of business analysis and process design

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
• Increase the use and effectiveness of the DVCS tool and common understanding of DVCS applications globally
• Define KPIs that gauge the use and effectiveness of the tool
• Ensure incident and problem tickets are resolved within defined timescales

PERSON SPECIFICATION
• Bachelors degree and at least two years relevant experience, or at least five years experience in a relevant discipline (eg. science , engineering , IT)
• Tangible experience of business analysis and process design
• Experience working in a pharma company in a compliant environment desirable
• Used to international and multicultural environment
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills and a team player
• Excellent stakeholder management
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, project management and collaboration tools (eg. Sharepoint)
• Fluent English (written and spoken) essential; German advantageous
