Essential Skills & Experience:
A versatile experienced network engineer is required. The ideal
candidate will have extensive experience (5+ years) in network
engineering with a strong background in network communications. They
will need to demonstrate an excellent technical ability coupled with
a strong background in formal networks integration and verification.
Knowledge of IT security devices & concepts (VPNs, Firewalls etc) is
also required. Previous experience of working on satellite ground
systems is desirable but not essential.
The experienced candidate will be able to support the network
integration and verification activities by specific tasks including
the following: -
. Network troubleshooting
. Hardware installation and configuration
. Integration of new network components
. Writing and running formal test procedures to verify requirements
. Production of formal test reports for customer approval
. Attending review meetings with the customer
. Supporting the on-site configuration controls process
The candidate needs to be a highly motivated self-starter with
sufficient capability and flexibility to support the system
engineering team specialists. The ability to interface with
customers, industrial team partners and sub-contractors is essential. Must have proven ability of working within an engineering design team and with customers and sub-contractors.
The network is based on technologies that include:
Alcatel
Omniswitches, Phion Firewalls, Mistral VPNs. Detailed knowledge of these is not required but would be advantageous.
Qualifications and/or Skills
Essential:
Network integration and verification, detailed knowledge of networking protocols (eg TCP/IP etc) Knowledge of IT security
devices & concepts (VPNs, Firewalls etc). Ability to be security
cleared. Knowledge of switching, routing and VLANs.
Desirable:
CCNA, CCNP, high grade security endpoints, understanding
of virtualisation technologies including VMWare
Previous Experience
Essential:
Significant network design and hands-on experience.
Experience of working on customer sites for the delivery of products
or systems in support of integration and test activities.
Experience of formal testing environments in a mission critical context.
