Background:

The Security Operation Center is the first point of escalation within the Managed Security organization. They are experts in their fields, whether change management, incident management or security event handling. Candidates have prior SOC experience and understand the demands of this dynamic environment. They possess technical certifications to reinforce their practical experience. They undertake a wide variety of tasks across a number of different platforms. Analysts/engineers are expected to undertake work at short notice and see it through to completion with no supervision. Multi-tasking is a crucial skill to handle competing interests, along with the ability to prioritize work and synchronize with the Duty Manager and customers. They provide value added services to Security customers, leveraging their extensive knowledge to provide context to events. Analysts need to be proactive and competent in problem management identification and resolution. Within the SOC there are two major areas of responsibility combined within one team - one is focusing on infrastructure management, the second on Security Analytics.

Duties:

- Perform SEAM policy 'Ready For Operations' checks for analytics devices including final tuning
- Working complex customer tickets to completion within SLA
- Leading technical troubleshooting calls with customers/other Verizon teams
- Coordinate with Senior Analysts/Duty Manager for High Priority incidents
- Call handling
- Creation of procedures, training/operations manuals
- Run the shift in absence of Duty Manager and lead resolution of High Priority incidents.
- Liaise with senior management and other Verizon teams for service improvements
- Infrastructure Management
- Escalation point for device health management
- Simple and Complex change control for managed devices
- Advanced device health management and SMC Back End configuration/troubleshooting

Requirements:

Candidates need to be very analytical and inquisitive since they need to investigate security incidents until conclusion and assess whether it should result in changes to policies. Their customer interaction skills need to be excellent since they will closely collaborate with customers and trusted advisors to put the customer context into the SIEM/SEAM policies in accordance to the customer's business objectives

- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with customers to understand their requirements
- Clear and concise written and oral English, ideally fluent in German also.
- Able to identify gaps in processes and strong problem solving skills
- Proactive in following up on customer issues
- Ability to excel in high pressure environments
- ITIL understanding

Preferred Skills:

- ITIL certification
- Enterprise experience
- German and English, any other a plus
- Experience in Cisco, Checkpoint, Linux, Juniper, Windows, IDS, Proxies, Mail, LDAP
- Security Certifications eg CCSP, CCSE, IDS product certification, CISSP
