a BI & DWH Specialist
Description:
• The Business Intelligence (BI) & Data Warehouse (DWH) specialist acts as Professional BI Software Engineer and is responsible for the entire life cycle (evaluation, design, development, documentation, test, maintenance) of BI solutions. The BI landscape of the client includes the Data Warehouse, the interfacing from source systems and the reporting systems used for analytical analysis. He/she will report to the team-lead.
Tasks:
• Map source system data to data warehouse models on a physical level
• Create detailed software design and implement software components based on business requirements. Software components can be
- ETL (extract/transform/load) processes into a data warehouse and/or data mart
- multidimensional semantic layers, reports, OLAP cubes and dashboards for end users
- (parts of) physical data models (relational and dimensional)
• Responsible for proper quality of the developed software components
• Preparing technical documentation and user manuals when necessary
• Executes performance analysis and tuning
• Continuous evaluation of implemented BI solutions and pro-actively propose for improvements
• Provide BI knowledge and support to all members
• Provide training to users of existing and new BI functions
• Continually updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and assessing new applications
• Investigating new technologies and provide proposals for implementation
Skills needed:
• Deep understanding and minimum 5 years working experience in the area of data integration and/or business intelligence software development
• Very good knowledge of ETL products and/or BI tool architectures, functions, and features
• Preferable technical skills
- Microsoft SQL Server technology and Microsoft Visual Studio
- IBM Cognos BI Suite
• Very good knowledge of software design methods and techniques
• Very good knowledge of SQL, relational and multidimensional designs
• Very good analytical skills enables translation of business questions and requirements into DWH and BI software components
• Very good understanding of source and target data structures, ETL processes, and products
• Basic understanding of banking products and the IT landscape of a bank
• Acts largely self-reliant
• Self-motivated and self-organized to be able to meet deadlines
• Well structured and hands-on approach
• Ability to work under pressure
• Absolutely team oriented
• Sensibility regarding working in a multi-cultural international environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technical Science or required knowledge and experience gained at similar positions in practice
• English language mandatory
• German language strongly recommended
• Russian and/or French language advantageous
