JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Feature development, with the opportunity to be involved with every stage of the software development life cycle
  • Investigation of errors, providing advice, analysis feedback, and support both inside and outside of the team
  • Integration & debugging of existing code, for example on new hardware platforms Implementation, test, and release of L2 error fixes
  • Supporting testing of the modem in both customer and network vendor laboratories (typically in Europe), including investigation of the issues raised from such testing
  • Identification of improvements and enhancements to L2 debugging and analysis tools, including the design and development of new L2 tools and plugins
  • Study, proof of concept, implementation, and verification of enhancements to the existing code
  • On-going quality improvements to areas such as documentation and test coverage

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:
Knowledge of WCDMA protocols, including a good understanding of layer 2
Proven track record in software development, implementation and debug for layer 1-3 communications protocols
Strong Embedded C and Real Time programming skills
Experience of SDL programming
Experience of developing and programming state machines
Experience in and debugging of TCP/IP protocol stack
Full understanding of the software development life cycle
Strong inter-personal skills

Desirable:
Advanced C programming skills
Strong technical decision making abilities
Experience of user data and MAC/RLC development
Experience of Real Time operating systems
Experience of other languages: C#, Perl, Python, Visual C++
Experience of code optimisation for minimum cycles & memory
Experience of software configuration management systems
Experience of working as part of a multi-site design and development team
