For our client in Munich we are currently looking for:

User interface design coordinator for search interfaces

The Centre of Excellence for User eXperience Design has the vocation of creating an optimized user experience for software in the context of the IT Roadmap.

It intends to do so by:

Defining the user interface concepts

Producing user interface design specifications

Applying a state-of-the-art user centred life cycle

Enabling the application of ergonomics standards

To fulfil its objectives, the UXD centre of excellence has put in place a central team that:

Defines a user experience strategy and implementation plan;

Handles centralized activities (or elements common to several projects) in user research, user interface design, web information architecture, accessibility as well as visual design and instructional documentation;

Coordinate activities with other instances dealing directly or indirectly with user experience;

Build up on internal knowledge and resources.

The C of E UXD team is currently looking for an area coordinator to deal with a group of projects dedicated to search and search result visualization interfaces.

Requirements:

The candidate should have a comprehensive knowledge of user interface design and usability/ergonomics problematic. This should be justified by several years of training and proven experience in UI design and/or ergonomics. The candidate should have a good working knowledge of ISO 9241 or other international standards and be very aware of their contents and implications. As an area coordinator, the candidate should also display excellent qualities of a team player. Possible experience in the patenting field and in particular, in search interfaces, will be considered as an advantage. The candidate should display excellent English writing skills, a good ability to speak this language as well and the ability to speak another language (German or French) and preferably both of them.

At least 3 years of experience in user interface design and software ergonomics

Working knowledge of ISO 9241 and WCAG 2.0

Previous experience in search interfaces (highly desirable)

Team player skills

Excellent English writing/speaking skills

Knowledge of French and German (optional)

Work Description:

The search area coordinator will:

Ensure consistency between search applications;

Support the definition of concepts in view of their possible integration in a common workbench;

Ensure that requirements, such as high level scenarios, for fundamental concepts are reflected in a basic UI specification defined for all projects falling under his or her area of responsibility;

Keep track of the concepts defined in all the projects falling under his or her area of responsibility and promote reuse of existing element as far as possible;

Define the elements that should be consistent across the projects and those that should be optimized for a specific context of use and keep track of all decisions;

Coordinate with other area coordinator(s) to ensure that the user interfaces produced in the context of the IT Roadmap are clearly aligned.

Deliverables:

Documentation produced to support the coordination effort (decision tracking, requirement tracking, concept tracking, components tracking, patterns tracking, etc.)

Documentation of the UX principles and rules defined for his or her area of responsibility

Presentations to various levels of management
