GlaxoSmithKline produces medicines that treat major disease areas such as asthma, anti-virals, infections, mental health, diabetes, cardiovascular and digestive conditions but also produces and markets consumer products in the area of dental health, over-the-counter medicines, skin care and nutrional drinks.

In the course of a re-organization process, the company has centralized the commercial functions for their consumer healthcare brands for North & West Europe in Hamburg. The newly created North & West Europe area comprises Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux and Scandinavia. In this new structure, GlaxoSmithKline has identified the need for Senior Shopper Marketing Manager for the Pain category.

About the role

The Senior Shopper Marketing Manager will be responsible for delivering world class strategic commercial solutions along the shopper journey by committing to unleash customers, shoppers and experts insights, values and truly thinking shelf back. He/she is to develop shopper marketing strategies and carry out category and brand commercial plans that transfer shopper into buyer by driving availability, visibility, shopper engagement and effectiveness ? measured in sales value and profit growth along the shopper journey.

Further the Senior Shopper Marketing Manager is responsible for creating channel specific activation strategies ? for expert (e.g. GP), pharmacy, drugstore and mass market ? by shelf back thinking and based on shopper insights. He/she will lead cross functional and multinational teams of Commercial Marketing, Brand Marketing and Sales in order to identify, drive and deliver area growth opportunities and commercial excellence.

In the role you will have personnel responsibility for two Shopper Marketing Managers that are responsible for the activation of specific sub-categories or brands. The Senior Shopper Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and coaching the Shopper Marketing Managers within the annual personal development process and on a training on the job base.

The position is placed in Hamburg at the North & West Europe HQ for consumer healthcare.

Desired qualifications:

  • Degree in economics, business administration, or related
  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) and track record in consumer goods shopper marketing and brand management and/or sales ideally in an international environment
  • True understanding of shopper marketing thinking
  • Good project management skills, experience in managing several complex projects at the same time
  • Fluent in English and preferably one other language

It is meriting if you have knowledge of and work experience with the German, Scandinavian and/or the Benelux market. Leadership skills is also a merit.
