Our client is a leading international communications group looking for a Senior legal Counsel (German and English)Role description :
Impact on the business
• Provide accurate, expert, effective and timely legal advice and support, taking into account the commercial environment for all transactions in the Responsible Area, including (a) advising on bids and drafting, structuring and negotiation of customer contracts,, and (b) advising, drafting and supporting the inclusion of new products and services in customer contracts and (c) advising, drafting and supporting the licensing of new products and services to operating companies, affiliates and partner networks.
• Advising on, and driving resolution of, relevant legal and regulatory issues which arise in connection with the Responsible Area.
• Develop relevant pro-forma agreements and other standard and training material to support the Responsible Area and the wider group team.
• Assist in the development of the strategy for providing ongoing legal support to the Responsible Area and the wider group organization.
Customers, supplier and third parties
• Develop and maintain effective contacts with the operating companies, all relevant business areas, and with other group services functions.
Leadership and teamwork
• Supervise and manage 1 other lawyer , including appropriate allocation of work, mentoring and coaching.
• Assist with the development of new practices, processes and best practice sharing to ensure effective and efficient operation of the entity legal function and the wider Group Legal department.
• Participate in the development and implementation of the department’s strategic initiatives to work towards meeting the objectives of the department.
Innovation and change
• Identify areas of risk for the business and assist in providing solutions to manage the risk.
• Ensure that appropriate stakeholders are involved in the decision making process in relation to such risk and influence the stakeholders to take the most desirable course of action from a legal perspective, whilst meeting commercial objectives.
• Problem solve legal issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Knowledge and experience
• Keep up to date on all relevant legal developments in law and practice
• Assist in the development of know how and precedent materials relevant to the Responsible Area and the wider group team and ensure that these are shared with other members of the group legal team.
• Participate in briefing the relevant business areas regarding the impact of key developments of law and practice in these areas.
Required skills/Experience:
• Dual language – English and German
• Experience in a commercial legal role
• Good knowledge of relevant law and awareness of legal developments that may affect the Group business.
• Good awareness of commercial issues.
• Proven ability in drafting and negotiation skills
• Experience of project management skills
• Team working skills and the ability to influence and persuade people.
• Effective communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
