Our client is currently seeking an experienced Unix System Software Engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience in the following, for an initial 3 year contract, with 2 year extensions, to be based in Germany near Frankfurt.
The working languages are English and French. Fluent English and knowledge of French are essential.
In addition to having a university degree (or equivalent), the Consultant shall have the following
skills and experience:
extensive experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems.
experience in an operational or production environment, characterized by custom applications in addition to standard software, running both on the client and Server Side, and by high availability requirements.
expert knowledge and a significant work experience of the UNIX operating system(s),
good experience in the installation and administration of Oracle Databases
being familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks, with as many as possible of the following skills and system software environments:
on SUN/Oracle computers: SOLARIS;
on DELL/IBM/HP/Oracle computers: RedHat and Suse Linux
TCP/IP internetworking and the related network protocols and applications, eg NIS, NFS, DNS, SNMP, FTP;
high availability software like Sun Cluster, IBM HACMP, Veritas Cluster or any other;
Good system design skills
Good understanding in incident and problem management
Technical documentation skills
Experience in the installation, administration and troubleshooting on some of the following shall be considered as an advantage:
IBM pseries computers running AIX;
RAID arrays (EMC);
SAN (Brocade);
Backup and recovery systems
Knowledge of Windows operating systems.
It is also an advantage if the consultant can carry out basic hardware support like installing interface cards or physically setting up networks.
