This position is for a consultant with a minimum of 3 years experience in software engineering for operational processing of satellite or meteorological data .
Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellites with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. The successful applicant will be part of a ground segment data processing team. The general tasks will be to support the definition, procurement, integration, testing, verification and validation of the data processing systems, mainly focusing in the area of the Level-2 product processors.
In addition to having a University degree in a relevant discipline such as computer science, physics, mathematics or remote sensing, the consultant will have the following knowledge and experience:
Specification, development, and testing of product processors for earth observation platforms.
Integration, Verification and Validation of data processing systems and/or product processors (L1 or L2) for satellite data or other meteorological data.
Development and testing of operational software in UNIX environments.
Fluency in English is essential and a working knowledge of French desirable. This is a freelance contract assignment due to start in May/June 2012 for a period of two years with two extension options of 1 year.
