This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, calls for extensive experience of designing, implementing and maintaining web content and services.Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding Real Time environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures.
The role covers a number of inter-related websites and will embrace:-
- Extranet and Intranet maintenance
- Content administration
- Maintenance of an FTP server
The key experience and attributes sought are:-
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing and maintaining web content and services in Internet, Intranet and Extranet systems across distributed web sites
- Experience of Web Content Management Systems
- Experience with Oracle
- Metadata management for documentation
- Extensive experience in PHP/JavaScript/HTML
Knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous:-
- Use of Web collaboration tools
- Internet technical and organisational aspects, internetworking concepts and architectures, classical Internet applications (eg FTP, SMTP, NNTP)
- Graphical tools (eg, Photoshop)
- Flash development experience
- Image processing
- XML
- Project planning (particularly in Space Projects or other large, complex systems)
- Configuration control
- ECSS system engineering standards.
- Experience of working in an ISO-certified environment
Candidates should possess a University degree or equivalent. Fluency in English is essential. This is a freelance contract assignment with an initial period of two years starting ASAP with an option to extend for a further year.
