On behalf of our client a major energy trading company based in Germany, Nicoll Curtin are looking to recruit a Configuration and Release Analyst to work on-site in Germany.
The role will entail:
- Release planning and management - the successful applicant will be required to define, implement and manage holistically the release requirements of Projects/Non-Projects within the company's environment
- Release management to support the transition of development projects as well as non-project related changes into the live estate
- Configuration management - planning and implementation of core CM concepts for internal trading applications
- Identifying and managing key risks and issues
- Defining, agreeing and managing against agreed acceptance criteria for capacity management of environments
- Highlighting process and operating improvements to enhance operational performance
- Defining and updating the release management plans to meet the delivery schedules for the transition of projects from ADM into production
- Defining, implementing and managing CM plans for trading applications/infrastructure changes
- Maintain the release and configuration management plans
- Management of deployments and releases onto internal environments (production and non-production)
- Support the Transition Analysts and the Release & Deployment Manager in outlining and managing the Release schedules to meet the delivery of changes for the transition of projects
- Provide overall co-ordination of release management and implementation plans, acting as the single point of contact
- Co-ordinate and manage key stakeholder expectations for Release and Configuration Management planning across the ADM, AO and Infrastructure supplier teams
Requirements:
- Automation experience - Perl, UNIX/Bash scripting, Python, Ruby
- Previous development experience
- Experience in build/release technologies: Hudson/Jenkins, Cruise Control, TeamCity
- Knowledge or experience of deployment tools - eg Puppet, BMC tools
- Knowledge of infrastructure/operations - ie clustering, integration design
- Knowledge or interest in any virtualisation technologies - VMWare, KVM, Xen, Eucalyptus, Virtual Box, Parallels etc
- Knowledge of build technologies, such as Maven, Ant or homegrown Legacy build tools
- Experience with binary repositories, such as Nexus, Archiva
- Knowledge or experience with automated package creation, such as automated creation .msi, .deb, .rpm etc.
- Strong knowledge of source control tools, branching methodologies
- Strong experience in automated deployments and running of automated integration tests
- Strong experience of databases, ideally Oracle and ideally automated database migrations
