This position is for a consultant software engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience of operational processing of satellite or meteorological data.
Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellites with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. The consultant will be part of team in the Meteorological Operations Division. In addition to having a University degree in a relevant discipline the consultant shall have experience of the following:
Development of operational software using Fortran and/or C and preferably C++ in a UNIX environment
Validation of meteorological products
Configuration control of software and data
Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification
Fluency in English is essential and a working knowledge of French desirable. This is a freelance contract assignment due to start in January 2012 for a period of 3 years with two extension options of 1 year each.
