For our client in Frankfurt am Main we are looking for a UNIX Systems Administrator (f/m):In this role you will be responsible for supporting EMEA infrastructure as part of a global Unix team.
You will be responsible for:
o Support and Design Consulting to ITG Account Team and business users
o Administration of Unix / Linux servers and installations of new servers
o 2nd and 3rd Line Production Support for Unix / Linux platforms
o Maintenance of associated storage and backup platforms
o Ensuring optimum performance and availability of Unix / Linux systems
o Ensuring daily backups, monitoring and health of all systems
o Processing Help Desk requests for general Unix / Linux activities
o Ensuring Backups and validity of data structures
o Controlling Security and access to Unix / Linux systems
o Ongoing upgrade and maintenance of Unix / Linux versioning
o DR planning and testing
o Evaluation of new technologies
o Participation in weekend scheduled works when requested
o Operation within Service Support and Service Delivery framework for Unix team (i.e. ITIL procedures for Change Control)
Applicants must have demonstrable Unix System Administration experience. They must have initiative and be comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment, be able to perform under time pressure, and occasionally work out of normal business hours. This role is ideal for self-starters who thrive off autonomy and who are adept at seizing opportunities. Ideally you will be qualified to degree level with proven experience in a customer support role.
Knowledge in the following areas is essential:
o Strong Solaris Unix skills
o Strong Red Hat Linux skills
o SAN and Storage management, preferably with NetApp, EMC and Veritas experience
o Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas Cluster Server
o Performance analysis and troubleshooting of complex issues
o Scripting in Perl and Shell
o Disaster recovery, backup and restore techniques
o Knowledge of Commvault +amp; enterprise tape systems
o Named services - netgroups, DNS, LDAP directory services
Knowledge in the following areas is desirable:
o Configuration of role-based access control such as SUDO
o Dynamic routing configurations from Unix hosts
o Sendmail / SMTP configurations
o Experience using BMC Patrol and Remedy
o ITIL fundamentals
