Description:

Network Planner assigned to LAN Planning Europe (LPE), working in global TCS organisation also closely with European WAN and Voice Teams.

Degree Required:

Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent IT degree

Technical Skills (Must Have):

• Cisco CCNA
• Cisco CCNP
• Cisco CCIE preferably in Routing and Switching
• At least 5 years experience in IP network design and implementation
• Experienced in Project Management
• Be fluent in German and English language

Technical Skills (Nice to Have):

• Being familiar with all network related IT regulations in Ford as ITPM, FB25, ICRs, EAE Standards; this would require to have worked for Ford in ITI previously.

Supervisory Skills:

• Be capable to manage external companies for the implementation of the network changes.

Other:

• Be capable to work in and with global teams internationally


Additional Information - Job description:

Responsible for:

• Designing Local and Wide Area Networks using technologies in line with the customer’s strategy, as well as prescribing alternative and effective technologies.
• Continually reviewing Network technologies and their suitability for the customer's network.
• 3rd level support for Data and Transport network.

Skills:

• Complete understanding in IP and associated protocols including routing characteristics and their relationship with regards to the OSI model. A good understanding of INTERNET, EXTRANET and INTRANET networks and their implementation.
• Excellent understanding of routers hardware and configuration. These will be Cisco products. Good working knowledge of OSPF, EIGRP and BGP.
• Good understanding of switched technology with Cisco products.
• Good understanding of Client/Server and distributive computing architectures and be able to advise on configuration of these for network use.
• Experience of Capacity planning or application performance analysis.
• In order to ensure the needed capabilities the candidate shall have a degree in Telecommunications or equivalent IT-discipline and a CCIE, CCDP, CCNP, CCVP certification.
• Excellent technical and business writing skill in English and German language. Other European language skills will be of advantage.

Background:

Several years of IT Industry experience, a high percentage of which must have been using network skills. Must have worked for a large corporate brand with a large global network.

The position is to provide, to a current client customer, ownership and design authority for advanced networking solutions. Ownership of projects is from conception and possible prototyping through design to an operational service. The projects are throughout Europe. This will involve working very closely with the customer's technical and management personnel to enable them to meet their objectives.

The networks in the main are Ethernet based running IP, using Cisco Routers and Cisco switched technology. Although the position is networked focused the specialist will require a good knowledge of various operating systems and the effect they may have upon the networks.

It is expected that the individuals will be self-motivated, able to manage themselves and have a proven track record in implementing new strategies and communicating solutions at the highest levels. It is further expected that the person has excellent team skills and integrates himself in the local planning team as well as in the European and Global Ford Telecommunications Community.
