Embedded SW Development (m/f/d)

Main tasks:
- Carry out project work by contributing to the development of software solutions for spacecraft on-board critical functions following engineering standard and best practices
- Develop, test and debug software in the lab using prototyped hardware
- Work closely with FPGA developers and assist them in devising solutions for creating balanced and efficient system architectures based on SoC and VHDL modules
- Identifying technical risks and critical areas in the development process while assisting in their resolution
- Applying the principles of mission & safety critical software development across multiple disciplines
- Provide technical expertise and support to other teams responsible for hardware and mechanical design of the on-board electronics
- Planning and support of qualification activities of the spacecraft on board systems
Main qualifications
- A university degree or equivalent (i.e. Computer Science, Software Engineering) with profound experience in software development, ideally for aerospace applications, healthcare or automotive.
- Strong experience in software design and implementation with proven engineering track
- Software development methodologies (Waterfall, V Shape, AGILE)
- Formal design methods (i.e. UML) and version control tools (i.e. Subversion, GIT), strong experience working with SoCs and FPGAs (Xilinx, Intel)
- Proficiency in embedded C/C++, scripting languages (i.e. Python, Bash)
- Good knowledge of Linux (yocto) and real-time operating systems for embedded systems (preferably RTEMS, freeRTOS).
- Experience with microprocessors, microcontrollers (ARM-M7, ARM A9, Atmel SAM, Atmel Start)
- Configuration and implementation of Network and Bus Protocols Stacks (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Mil-1553, CAN, SpW, SpFi)
- The following experience/knowledge will be considered as an asset:
- Typical software architecture and applications in satellite projects or ISS payloads
- Past experience with Hardware-in-the-loop integration and testing desired
- Experience with Memory management and integrity assurance for space applications
- Experience with Software Engineering Standards such as the ECSS-E-ST-40C, experience in research-oriented organizations.
- Matlab/Simulink, GUI development
- Authoring project technical documentation.
