Typical Duties - Essential Job Functions:

  • Utilize engineering design and development skills, engine knowledge, sound problem solving methodology and Quality System procedures to resolve technical issues preventing flow of production product through the factory.

  • Work with development engineers, product designers, design engineers, manufacturing, purchasing, application engineering, marketing, service, contracted engineering consultants, and suppliers to identify and solve the root cause of product related problems.

  • Perform engineering studies and calculations within the scope of asssigned work.

  • Prepare and lead design reviews of work products.

  • Oversee project progress and provide leadership and direct activities of other engineering personnel, in particular other Design Engineers and Product Designers.

  • Provide technical support to other functional areas as required.

  • Participate in project technical design reviews.

  • Serve as the Engineering representative on a project team or assume a leadership role of a cross functional team as required.

  • Perform all required Business System transactions associated with product support as required.

  • Participate in the creation of company Quality documents.

  • Will require occasional domestic and international travel.




Education and Experience Desired:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is desired.

  • Industrial engine product support background.

  • Demonstrated conceptual skills to design engine components, systems, and assemblies in CATIA V5.

  • Minimum of two years experience with a solid-modeling CAD software package.

  • Experience using FEA, preferably ANSYS.

  • Experience interfacing with manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and customers and the ability to mentor others in the Engineering organization.

  • Experience leading project teams including knowledge of project management techniques and project software.

  • Organizational skills required to manage multiple projects and/or activities.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills.

  • Interpersonal skills required to function with the engineering and inter-departmental teams, including Project teams.

  • A confident self-starter with demonstrated decision making abilities.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.

  • Must embrace continuous improvement and have a strong desire to learn.

  • Must be creative and have a passion to turn technical requirements into successful designs.
