A Renewable Energy Operator is looking for a Wind Turbine WTG Engineer to focus on Origination & Development offshore wind projects. This opportunity is to start by October and continue through to end of Q1 2016 with extensions. The WTG Engineer will work Full time 5 days a week in the office (Monday to Friday), reporting to WTGPackage Manager.The WTG Engineer will support the package manager in the implementation of wind-turbines from design to commissioning for two offshore wind projects, in respect to time, costs, safety, quality and interfaces.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate the design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of all turbine-related items in accordance with in-house engineering, Q&A and HSSE procedures
- Provide support to the WTG team including generator, nacelle, blades, and tower-design
- Act as project focal point for all activities carried out within the package
- Support the Procurement team in the co-ordination of the tendering process and evaluation of supplies
- Manage different contracts throughout the project development and construction phases
- Provide up to date budget-relevant information, incl the provision of price indications from different suppliers
- Apply cost reduction measures to ensure competitiveness; actively look for alternatives to reduce offshore costs
- Ensure risks are addressed/reported, mitigation action determined and risks are minimized or closed out
- Co-ordinate commissioning and operational handover of turbine-related components during construction phase
- Promote good HSSE practices and ensure HSE/CDM requirements are fully implemented
- Provide monthly progress reports to the Project Manager
- Manage the suppliers to ensure their delivery to the project's defined quality requirements
- Actively interface with other packages and central functions
- Ensure that the technical assurance of design is reviewed with support from Asset Management and Quality Teams
- Participate in certification and other regulatory processes in accordance to local requirements and international standards
Qualifications:
- Excellent university degree (mechanical or electrical engineering)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in turbine-design and construction, preferably within major offshore construction projects
- Very good understanding of technical and organizational processes
- Ability to structure complex processes
- Outstanding communication skills
- Experience in leading and working with multi-disciplinary project teams
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English, German and Dutch language skills would be of advantage
