Manager of Radio Access Network Product Design and Development

SUMMARY:
Manager of Radio Access Network Product Design and Development is the role to lead radio design and development. This role requires extensive knowledge and experience in radio access network deployment with different protocol split options of vRAN. Manager will manage team of engineers to create RAN product feature roadmap and specifications meeting the customer expectations. The role also requires defining and updating the 5G feature roadmap depending on changing market and device dynamics, data demand, hardware options and user terminal diversity.
Work hand in hand with RF design & optimization, transport and 5G core network teams to develop and to deploy vRAN solutions based on customer needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and management of RAN Product Development
Managing RAN product specifications and feature set based on the customer specific requirements, together with RF design and deployment timelines.
Planning and Management of RAN Solutions Deployment
Managing team of engineers to develop customer specific RAN solutions with the right network architecture,
Industry Alignment
Representing Rakuten in global vRAN related technical engineering forums (ORAN), conferences and organizations (3GPP) to push Rakuten’s vRAN agenda,
Resource Planning and Allocation
Develop resource planning and allocation strategy, in alignment with the business goals. This includes performance management, compensation, and hiring.
Effective Communication
Proactively communicate the team's direction, goals, and progress to the organization, C-Level Leaders, Functional teams, and peers.
Professional Development
Responsible for developing the team's consulting, technical, and leadership skills to achieve employee satisfaction and scale our business
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

Deep expertise and experience in Radio Access Network product development, and deployment under strict timelines,
Experience in developing RAN network architecture based on various inputs such as split options, latency, throughput, and backhaul specifications,
Extensive knowledge in RAN and 5G core network interfaces and dimensioning,
Knowledge about ORAN open RAN interfaces and compatibility with current vRAN platforms,
Extensive knowledge in protocol split options 2 and 7 in detail with its impact on the network rollout,
Extensive knowledge in RAN product and mobile device interaction including signaling, messaging between RAN and mobile device,
Deep knowledge about hardware virtualization with state-of-the-art hypervisors,
Experience and knowledge about hardware accelerators, FPGAs, and x86 based processors,
Experience in HW dimensioning to deploy software container-based CU solutions into an existing or a new vRAN platform,
Well-developed Communication Skills
Overall telecommunication technical knowledge

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Masters in Electrical Engineering with Wireless Network specialization
10+ years of RAN product development experience,
3-5 years of team management experience,
7+ years of experience in radio access network product design and development,
5+ experience in vRAN product design,
Proven innovation skills in the telecommunication area with at least 30+ granted US and/or international patents.
