I am currently representing a vibrant and progressive start-up in the middle of Europe´s Silicon Valley - Berlin.
This international team of technology enthusiasts is dedicated to bring the right apps to the right people. They operate a portfolio of Software and App portals across Europe and North America in ten languages and combine great editorial content with informative and well-founded app recommendations.
There is a flat hierarchy combined with short and direct communication paths offering the opportunity to work on great tasks and challenges in a performance-oriented yet really friendly environment with a dynamic and international team.
The role will involve:
- Developing RESTful Back End services in a motivated team, building stable and elegant web applications
- Creating redundancy in our systems with clustering, sharding or replication strategies and responsible for its availability.
- Working with Real Time analysis in a high traffic environment (> 2.5 million requests/hour)
They are looking for candidates with the following skills:
- 5+ years experience as Systems Engineer and Software Engineer
- Deep understanding of Linux/Unix Administration (e. g. Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS or their variants) and excellent debugging experience, particularly in diagnosing performance issues.
- Excellent programming skills in PHP and at least one additional major programming language. Knowledge about designing high available & fault-tolerant infrastructure is a must. Node.js or Go would be a big plus.
- General understanding of basic networking concepts and network security appliances (DHCP, DNS, Firewalls, ACLs, Routing, Subnetting etc.)
- You are able to spin up a fault-tolerant and secure Docker environment incl. monitoring and central logging by your own without using out-of-the-box solutions
- Experience with one of the major cloud providers: Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services
- You use Git and are familiar at least with Docker, Ansible, Nginx, Redis, MongoDB and the concept of CI/CD Pipelines.
