An Offshore Wind Energy Operator is looking for a Grid Connection Engineer to focus on the electrical offshore substation package on multiple Offshore Wind Pre-Construction (OPC) projects. This Offshore wind energy developer has multiple offshore windparks in German and Dutch waters in planning phases, as well as offshore windfarm in construction in the UK. The Client requires this individual to start ASAP at their Hamburg offices on a 6 months contract (dependent upon FID), working Monday to Friday office work. Fluency in German and English languages is a must.Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate all technical aspects of grid connection and performs all negotiations with the Grid Operator
- Supervise performance power system analysis to check the wind farm system design with regard to system performance (short circuit behavior, system losses, grid code requirements, etc.)
- Writing of specifications (Employer's requirements) under consideration of the grid code requirements and negotiates those with the WTG and electrical offshore substation (EOS) suppliers
- Initiate and review of external electrical technical studies
- Negotiations with the TSO
- Electrical offshore substation design evaluation in terms of fulfillment the Grid Code
- Power system analysis for evaluation of wind farm design and grid code fulfillment
- Participation in technical negotiations with contractors and co-ordination/initialization of all TSO meetings regarding grid code fulfillment
- Facilitate all contribution of all other business units (eg Legal, HSSE, O&M, Asset Management) and all other project packages related to grid integration
- Evaluation of technical issues, time schedule impacts and project management input related to grid connection
- Providing technical reports and design decision support on technical issues regarding Grid Connection topics
- Support and advice to O&M regarding Grid Code Compliance testing during commissioning
- Design specification of measurement equipment required for prove of Grid Code Compliance
Skills:
- 10+ Years of power plant construction and operations experience
- Projects and construction with working knowledge of electrical and structural with direct hands on experience in international work being required
- Working knowledge of industry project completion standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
- Working knowledge of practices, processes, and expectations with respect to systems completion and commissioning
- Must be able to work well within a diverse large multi-cultural work site
- Must be a high initiative, high engineer, able to work well with little supervision
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project
- Demonstrated knowledge of Primavera P6
- Previous successful construction engineering role during Project Management and Construction execution
- German excellent and English fluent
- Understanding of German Electrical codes
