For our client locate in Essen we are looking for a Strategic Market Analyst for the Energy industry.
Start: ASAP
Duration: 3 months
Volume: 4-5 days per week
Location: Essen, 1 day remote per week possible
Language: English, German nice to have
Project situation:
The role is placed in the Corporate Strategy function of the client. The team is responsible for the planning assumptions provided to the group and supports the Board and other stakeholders with insights and strategic decision support regarding the potential development of energy markets. The necessary analysis of markets is partly based on the support by external analysis providers. One part of the role is thus to interact with and lead the latter. Furthermore, a "Strategic Early Warning" process for the Board is to be developed in cooperation with our Innovation function. This includes identifying trends (opportunities and disruptions) and deducting strategic implications. The candidate shall support the team during the parental leave of an employee and reports directly to the VP Corporate Strategy.
Tasks
- Lead the development of a "Strategic Early Warning" process (incl. trend-radar, own analysis, management of project team with internal colleagues and external support)
- Deliver high quality quantitative and qualitative market forecasts/insights and provide general market views, analytical deep-dives and sensitivities
- Contribute to processes providing planning assumptions to the client
- Contribute to the market intelligence community
Work experience:
- Excellent university degree in engineering, economics, mathematics or other relevant fields
- More than 5 years of professional experience in the field of energy markets
- Market analysis background preferred
- Experience in leading and motivating project teams in a functional setup
Mandatory skills (must-have):
- Team player with strong analytical and numerical skills
- Relevant experience in modelling power markets
- Proactive personality and the willingness to drive change
- Confident appearance with excellent communication skills
Desirable skills (nice-to-have):
- Strong, relevant contacts within the power and renewable energy industry
- Experiences working with external analysis providers
- Experiences with developing and implementing trend radars and deducting strategic implications
