About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Test Manager – Communication Management (m/f/d) to support software testing activities within a safety-critical and regulated environment, with a particular focus on communication management systems.
The role is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, execution, and monitoring of software test activities throughout the complete software lifecycle. You will work closely with project management, software development, quality assurance, and certification stakeholders to ensure high-quality and fully traceable testing.
Key ResponsibilitiesTest Strategy & Planning- Own the strategic planning, coordination, control, and monitoring of test activities across the complete software lifecycle.
- Develop and continuously maintain overarching test concepts and test plans.
- Define test cases, test procedures, and test objectives.
- Prepare meaningful and structured test reports and documentation.
- Ensure testing activities are planned and executed in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and manage requirements-based testing.
- Ensure complete traceability between requirements, test cases, test procedures, and test results.
- Maintain comprehensive coverage and linkage of requirements and test artefacts throughout all project phases.
- Monitor test progress, coverage, and results and identify potential gaps or risks.
- Act as the central interface between project management, software development, QA, and certification stakeholders.
- Coordinate testing activities across interdisciplinary teams.
- Communicate test status, risks, findings, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Support structured issue resolution and follow-up.
- Ensure compliance with change management processes.
- Ensure testing activities and test artefacts are aligned with configuration management requirements.
- Maintain consistency and traceability of test documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
- Several years of professional experience in software test management, ideally within safety-critical or highly regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of DO-178C, particularly DAL-D.
- Good understanding of aviation-specific software documentation and quality requirements.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Jama
- Jira
- Xray
- Pytest
- Solid knowledge of the Linux Network Stack.
- Good understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols.
- Knowledge of common network security functions and architectures.
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Structured, quality-oriented, and analytical working approach.
- Excellent German and English, both written and spoken.
You are an experienced test professional who can take ownership of testing activities in a regulated environment. You are comfortable working across technical and organizational interfaces and understand the importance of requirements traceability, documentation, quality assurance, and compliance in safety-critical software projects.
