For a technologically demanding development project, I am currently looking for an Optical Engineer (m/f/d).
- Development and further enhancement of sophisticated optical systems and subsystems
- Responsibility for optical components from the concept phase through to technical implementation
- Selection, design, and integration of optical and photonic components
- Collaboration across the interfaces between optics, mechanics, electronics, and software
- Preparation of technical documentation, specifications, and design review materials
- Support with qualification, validation, and verification testing of optical systems
- Evaluation of technical solution approaches with consideration of performance, time, cost, and technical risks
- At least 5 years of experience in the development of sophisticated optical systems
- Strong knowledge of optical design, optical materials, coatings, and testing methods
- Experience independently developing optical components or subsystems
- Good knowledge of photonic components and their integration into complex optical systems
- Strong understanding of opto-mechanical interactions
- Experience collaborating with related disciplines such as mechanical engineering, electronics, and software
- Experience with technical documentation, specifications, and technical design reviews
- Practical experience in the qualification, validation, and verification of optical systems
- Structured, transparent, and proactive working style, with experience in multidisciplinary development environments
- Strong hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: optical modelling using Zemax or alignment of high-energy/high-power laser beams
- Experience with high-power laser systems is desirable
- Experience with ultra-short-pulse laser systems is desirable
- Experience working with suppliers in the optics or photonics industry is desirable
