Beschreibung
I am currently looking for experienced Senior Observability & Telemetry Engineer (.NET) with deep expertise in OpenTelemetry, .NET applications, Datadog, Application Insights and Grafana.
You will lead the design and implementation of observability standards, telemetry instrumentation, distributed tracing, monitoring, logging and alerting across a modern Azure-based platform. The role requires hands-on engineering capabilities combined with strong architectural knowledge around telemetry strategy, monitoring cost optimization and application modernization patterns.

Capacity: Full-time, Freelance
Initial Duration: initial contract for 6 months (extension expected)
Remote and on-site Share: 100% remote- The role is primarily remote; however, occasional travel may be required. (Germany, Netherlands, China, India)
Project languages: English (Fluent)
Your Responsibilities
- Implement and optimize observability solutions across Azure-based .NET applications.
- Instrument applications using OpenTelemetry for end-to-end tracing, monitoring, and telemetry.
- Manage and enhance Datadog, Application Insights, and Grafana environments.
- Design telemetry, logging, and sampling strategies.
- Support platform modernization using the Strangler Fig Pattern.
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineers, DevSecOps Engineers, and development teams.
Required Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry in production .NET/C# environments.
- Experience integrating NLog with OpenTelemetry and implementing trace correlation.
- Expertise in Datadog (APM, Trace Explorer, Dashboards, Monitors).
- Operational experience with Application Insights and Grafana.
- Knowledge of distributed tracing, head vs. tail sampling, cardinality management, and observability best practices.
- Proven ability to create end-to-end traces from JavaScript frontend ? C# backend ? database.
- Understanding of Strangler Fig modernization and OpenAPI-based API design.
