Beschreibung

For agentic AI projects in industrial manufacturing in the DACH region, we are looking for experienced integration engineers for MES and ERP (m/f/d) to join our expert pool. The work is 100% remote, and we welcome applications from anywhere in the world.

A typical project looks like this:

Starting point
A manufacturing company wants to handle production disruptions with an agentic workflow. When a machine fails, AI agents gather information from MES, production planning, maintenance and documentation, evaluate options (e.g. wait for the repair or move orders to an alternative machine) and present them to the responsible roles for approval. Only after human approval are the maintenance order and the rescheduling executed in the target systems. Decision-relevant figures come from traceable rules, not from the language model; every step can be interrupted and resumed and is fully logged. The solution runs on Google Cloud with Temporal as workflow engine. You own the connection to the manufacturing systems. Direct machine control is not planned; the focus is on MES, production planning and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Survey data sources and interfaces in MES, ERP and maintenance (machine status, orders, scheduling, production approvals, failure history, staff and spare parts)
  • Define and implement tool and adapter contracts for read and write access
  • Design write actions (maintenance order, rescheduling, notification) to be idempotent and version-checked
  • Implement integration with SAP PP/PM or S/4HANA (e.g. OData, BAPI, IDoc) and MES systems
  • Align the data model with ISA-95, assess industrial standards such as OPC UA or Asset Administration Shell
  • Agree on test instances and realistic test data with the customer, model failures and partial outages of the systems
  • Work closely with the workflow and agent engineers
  • Document interfaces, data flows and permissions
Must have
  • At least 5 years of experience integrating manufacturing IT, including at least 3 years with MES, production planning or maintenance systems
  • At least one integration with SAP PP, SAP PM or S/4HANA manufacturing or maintenance you were responsible for (e.g. via OData, BAPI, RFC or IDoc)
  • Knowledge of an MES (e.g. Siemens Opcenter, MPDV HYDRA, iTAC, SAP Digital Manufacturing) from an integration perspective
  • Programming skills for adapters (e.g. Java, C#, Python or TypeScript) and REST interfaces
  • Fluent English
  • At least 4 hours of daily overlap with Central European Time (CET)
Nice to have
  • ISA-95 / IEC 62264, OPC UA, Asset Administration Shell, MQTT
  • Integration platforms (e.g. SAP Integration Suite, MuleSoft, Apache Camel) and event streaming (Kafka)
  • Experience with idempotency and error handling for automated postings
  • Connecting plant systems to the cloud (Google Cloud, Azure or AWS)
  • Experience with AI or automation projects in production
  • Experience working in agile, distributed teams
  • German language skills
Terms
  • Location: 100% remote
  • Duration: typically 4 to 6 months, extension possible
  • Workload: 80 to 100 percent
  • Start: depending on the project, from Q1 2027
  • Contract: freelance, invoicing in EUR
Application
Please answer briefly:
  1. Which integration of MES, production planning or maintenance were you most recently responsible for (systems, interfaces, your role, scale)?
  2. How do you make sure that an automatically triggered posting (e.g. maintenance order or rescheduling) creates no duplicates or inconsistencies on retry or partial failure?
  3. What is your hourly rate in EUR, where are you based (country and time zone), and when are you available?
In email communication please always include the project ID of this ad. Please do not call unless an appointment has been arranged.
