For our client, we are currently looking for an experienced Senior C++ Engineer (m/f/d) to support the further development and modernization of two complex desktop applications in a technically demanding environment. The focus of the project is on enhancing application performance, modernizing legacy components, and ensuring a stable and scalable software architecture. One of the applications is based on C++ and Java, while the other combines C++ and Visual Basic.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Development and maintenance of high-performance C++ desktop application components
- Analysis and optimization of application performance, runtime behavior and scalability
- Design and implementation of multithreaded and concurrent software components
- Modernization and migration of legacy technologies to modern C++ and current .NET environments
- Integration and maintenance of desktop application frameworks and third-party components
- Close collaboration with software architects, QA engineers and product management to deliver high-quality solutions
- Support the use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code) for code analysis, refactoring and software modernization
Requirements:
must-have:
-Several years of professional experience in modern C++ software development
-Good knowledge of Java and/or Visual Basic
-Experience integrating frameworks such as Qt or CEF
-Hands-on experience with CMake, Conan and MSVC
-Solid experience in performance analysis, debugging and optimization of desktop applications
-Fluent English (written and spoken) is required and German language skills are considered a plus
nice-to-have:
-Practical experience with AI-supported development tools such as Claude Code or similar coding agents
-Experience modernizing legacy applications (e.g. MFC, ATL, Win32 or Delphi)
