For an established international digital product, we are looking for three experienced backend freelancers to join product-focused engineering teams at short notice.
Project details
- Start: As soon as possible
- Duration: Initially until the end of the year
- Capacity: Ideally full-time
- Location: 100% remote

Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance production backend services
- Implement new functionality using Node.js and TypeScript
- Work on cloud-based and distributed systems
- Develop and integrate APIs and asynchronous processes
- Ensure scalability, reliability and maintainability
- Implement automated tests and participate in code reviews
- Support continuous integration and delivery
- Analyse and resolve issues in production
- Collaborate closely with product management and engineering teams
- Contribute actively within an agile, international product environment
Absolute must-haves
- Very strong and recent backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript
- Consistent production use of Node.js and TypeScript across the last three to four projects
- Hands-on development of Node.js and TypeScript applications in AWS environments
- Strong cloud experience
- Experience with distributed systems
- Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture or asynchronous processing
- Experience with agile software development
- Automated testing, Git and CI/CD
- Current hands-on coding experience
Important
We are not looking for candidates who list Node.js or TypeScript only in their general skills section.
Both technologies must be clearly demonstrated through recent backend projects.
Profiles whose recent backend work has primarily involved Java, .NET, PHP, Python or another technology will not be considered for this particular assignment.
Preferred profile
- Experience with high-traffic, customer-facing digital products
- B2C or customer-facing product experience
- Personal ownership of production backend services
- Experience with monitoring, observability and production support
- Experience with scalability, performance and system reliability
- Experience working in small, autonomous product teams
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-assisted development
- Practical use of Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or comparable coding agents
- Agentic coding workflows
- Experience implementing AI functionality within distributed applications
