For upcoming modernization projects with mid-sized companies in the DACH region, we are looking for experienced SAP Integration Architects (m/f/d) to join our expert pool. The work is 100% remote, and we welcome applications from anywhere in the world. Fluent German is required, as you will work directly with the customers' SAP and basis teams.
A typical project looks like this:
Starting point
An established business application is being modernized and migrated to Google Cloud. It exchanges master data, documents and postings with the customer's SAP system (ECC or S/4HANA, on-premise, RISE or Public Cloud), so far via grown RFC, IDoc and file interfaces. The goal are interfaces based on released APIs and business events, clean-core compliant and cut so that they survive an S/4HANA transition. Custom development inside SAP remains with the customer or their SAP partner. You are responsible for the SAP side of the interfaces in discovery and interface design; an integration architect is responsible for the application and cloud side.
Responsibilities
• Capture the customer's SAP landscape in the discovery: release, operating model, activated gateways and APIs, existing interfaces and extensions
• Identify the suitable released API, BAPI or business event from the SAP Business Accelerator Hub for each data object and verify feasibility
• Define the integration path (SAP Integration Suite, Cloud Connector, API Management, Event Mesh) and align it with the customer's basis and authorization teams
• Create the interface catalog: fields, volumes, error and retry behavior, technical user and roles, customer obligations
• Assess license and policy questions (SAP API Policy, indirect use, Digital Access) and name the risks
• Ensure clean-core compliance and assess the impact of an upcoming S/4HANA transition on the interfaces
• Plan and support integration tests together with the integration architect and the customer's SAP team
• Document decisions and present them to the customer and the SAP partner
Must have
• At least 8 years of SAP experience, including at least 4 years as an integration or interface architect between SAP and non-SAP applications
• Hands-on experience with released OData APIs and business events in S/4HANA as well as BAPI, RFC and IDoc in ECC
• Experience with SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management) or SAP PI/PO and the Cloud Connector
• Knowledge of clean core, the SAP API Policy and the licensing topics indirect use and Digital Access
• Fluent German and fluent English
• At least 4 hours of daily overlap with Central European Time (CET)
Nice to have
• Certification SAP Integration Suite, SAP Enterprise Architect (P_SAPEA) or comparable
• Experience with S/4HANA transformations (brownfield, greenfield, RISE) in mid-sized companies
• Google Cloud or another public cloud on the other side (Pub/Sub, Apigee, Cloud Run)
• Ability to read ABAP in order to assess Z developments and extensions
• Data extraction to BigQuery (e.g. Google Cortex Framework) and reporting interfaces
• Experience working in agile, distributed teams
Terms
• Location: 100% remote
• Duration: typically 4 to 6 months, extension possible
• Workload: 80 to 100 percent
• Start: depending on the project, from Q1 2027
• Contract: freelance, invoicing in EUR
