we are currently looking for experienced Java engineers to rebuild the core of an established ERP product for manufacturing. The current version runs on Java 8 and Java EE; the next generation is being built on a modern Java stack, in months rather than years.
AI agents (Claude Code or comparable) write the code. You break down the work, verify the results and shape the architecture: a standard core that customer requirements plug into via defined extension points. The approach is proven and is now being scaled.

Tasks:
- Read the existing core with agents and capture its business rules as executable specifications
- Rebuild core domains, starting with production planning
- Shape the extension model: extension points, plugins, versioned APIs
- Extend the agent tooling: context, verification gates, agents in the ticket flow
- Secure the switch for existing customers: migration, parallel run, reconciliation
Skills:
- 8+ years of production Java backend, including Java 8 and Java EE
- Daily work with coding agents, including verifying their output
- At least one modernisation taken to go-live, including data migration
- Business software experience (ERP, MES, planning, logistics, finance); no industry knowledge needed
- SQL on PostgreSQL and a commercial database; business-fluent English
