A European enterprise software group is building a sovereign cloud platform for regulated and industry-specific software products. The platform is based on Kubernetes and designed around structural tenant isolation, centralised identity brokering, API-first integration, usage-based metering, observability and compliance by design.
We are looking for a senior Platform Architect to own the target architecture, challenge key technology decisions and validate them through focused proofs of concept.
This is not a delivery or operations role, but you must be hands-on enough to prove that your designs work.
Responsibilities
Define the target architecture, transition states, C4 models and ADRs
Design multi-tenancy with structural data separation
Architect OIDC-based identity brokering, M2M authentication and external IdP federation
Define API, integration, metering, billing and observability patterns
Validate architecture through rapid PoCs in a managed Kubernetes environment
Communicate decisions to engineering, product, leadership and auditors
Must-have requirements
Please apply only if you meet all of the following:
You have personally designed and helped implement a multi-tenant SaaS platform
You have deep Kubernetes experience, including Helm, Operators and GitOps
You have hands-on API contract governance experience with OpenAPI, AsyncAPI and versioning
You have designed platform-level IAM using OIDC, identity brokering and Zero Trust principles
You can write Terraform, Helm charts or a lightweight service to validate decisions
You understand GAMP 5, audit-trail design and 21 CFR Part 11 fundamentals
Candidates without all six must-haves are unlikely to be considered.
Nice to have
Temporal, Cadence or Camunda 8
Apache Camel or similar integration frameworks
Iceberg, Parquet or lakehouse architecture
OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and Grafana
Sovereign cloud or OpenStack environments
Life sciences, pharma, food, FMCG or logistics experience
Engagement
2–3 days per week
Remote, with occasional on-site work in Germany

Applicants should clearly outline relevant multi-tenant SaaS, Kubernetes, IAM and hands-on architecture validation experience.
