Job Purpose:
- Maintains computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide local, remote and inter-networking design, implementation and documentation
- Utilize and integrate network components
- Monitor the performance of network platform
- Make technical recommendations on improvements
- Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols
- Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, good put, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls
- Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor
- Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control and evaluation; maintaining documentation
- Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support
- Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Provide technical networking support
- Assist in identifying business leads and interface with sales by providing input during proposal stage
Skills, Licenses, Knowledge, Education and Training Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
- CCNA or CCNP Certifications or equivalent required
- 3-5 years of experience in network design, implementation and documentation
- 3-5 years of experience in implementation of network improvements
- Knowledge of encryption technologies, PKI and firewall systems
- Excellent communications skills
- Strong planning and organizing skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Excellent problem resolution skills
- Attendance and schedule adherence are requirements of this position
- This position includes continuous walking, bending and lifting equipment sometimes up to 50 pounds and engaging in labor related duties of connecting computer equipment
- May require additional project-specific training
