Our client is hiring an expert C++ Freelancer to upgrade and maintain their desktop software suite. The focus of the project is to maximize runtime performance, solidify stability, and smoothly transition the codebase into a modern state to optimize responsiveness for clinical professionals.
Position: Senior C++ Engineer - Desktop Applications
Start Date: as soon as possible
Duration: 6 months (option for extension)
Workload: full-time
Location: Koblenz (90% remote)
Languages: fluent English required; good German language skills are a plus
Long-standing experience in Senior C++ development for high-performance, parallelized desktop environments
Strong command of modern C++ (C+*****), alongside concurrency, multithreading, debugging, and performance tuning
Hands-on expertise in CMake, Conan, MSVC, Qt, and CEF
Nice to Have:
Experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, custom agents, workflows)
Background in healthcare or regulated software sectors
Degree in STEM (CS, Math, Physics, EE) or equivalent experience
Build, profile, and optimize scalable C++ desktop components for clinical workflows
Assist in modernizing legacy code (MFC, Win32, Delphi) to modern C++ and .NET
Utilize AI coding agents (Claude Code) daily for refactoring and prompt engineering
Partner with Architecture, QA, and Product teams to deliver maintainable solutions
