A leading European energy transmission consortium is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Procurement Team as a Strategic Electrical Equipment Group Buyer. This consortium comprises two major transmission system operators (TSOs) in two key European regions, with a combined service area catering to over 30 million end users. Our extensive high voltage network spans 18,600 km, ensuring the efficient transport of electricity from producers to consumers and industrial clients.
Location: The position is based partly in our central office in Brussels and partly at our partner TSO’s headquarters in Berlin.
Role Duration: The role is offered for a minimum of 2-3 years, with the possibility of a 1-year renewal. The entry date is as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with technical and asset management departments to understand long-term equipment needs.
• Conduct thorough market analysis and identify potential global suppliers, aligning with the consortium’s strategic direction.
• Develop and execute medium- to long-term procurement plans for core electrical equipment.
• Formulate and implement procurement strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Actively participate in the consortium’s sustainability initiatives.
• Manage the EU procurement process end-to-end, which constitutes 80% of the role.
• Utilize your expertise in EU procurement to refine internal procurement processes, methods, and tools.
• Take on full responsibility for a specific asset family, operating with autonomy on a global scale.
• Foster synergies and best practices across both TSO entities.
Candidate Profile:
• Master’s degree in a technical field, engineering, or economics with a strong technical emphasis.
• At least 10 years of experience in a technical, public procurement, or project management setting.
• Trilingual proficiency in French, Dutch, and English, with at least one as a mother tongue and the others at B2 to C1 level.
• Strong organizational skills, independent work ethic, initiative, resilience to stress, and a problem-solving mindset.
• Analytical and results-driven approach.
• Familiarity with legal terminology and adept at contract negotiation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Flexibility to work from home or the office.
• Willingness to travel to Berlin occasionally.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience with Ariba.
• Knowledge of German.
- Start: ASAP, approx. 10 months, extension possible
- Workload: 5 days per week
- Location: Working location will be mainly in the Brussels area (homeworking possible 2-3 days a week) and on-site in Belgium occasionally
