Background:
The client's Global Customer Insights and Experience team runs an IT platform based on Azure Synapse technology that integrates various data sources and uses Power BI to calculate and visualise some relevant metrics. Some of the metrics calculated in this way are reviewed by audit teams, so there are high demands on this process in terms of transparency and documentation. Currently, the Bigfoot project is underway, which aims to simplify the data structure in this platform so that changes can be integrated more easily in the future.
Tasks (independent service provision):
In the target architecture of Bigfoot, various data sources, e.g. in the form of csv files, are transferred via automated pipelines into an Azure SQL database in a simplified data structure. A data model is available in Azure Analysis Services, which pre-calculates corresponding key figures. The data model is then accessed via Power BI so that automated reports can be created.
- Everything around the daily operation of the Azure environment, including administrative activities - maintenance and expansion of the pipelines in the Azure Data Factory. For this topic, we also work together with another external service provider who can, for example, set up new pipelines based on specifically defined tasks.
- Administration and further development of the SQL database
- Completion and further development of the data model. Here in particular, a close exchange with the business side is necessary to ensure that the data model meets all business requirements.
- Documentation of all developments and process flows
- Creation of Power BI reports. Here, too, close cooperation with the business side is a prerequisite
Target:
- Ensuring the operation of the Azure data environment
- Completion of the Bigfoot project by the end of 2021
- Handover of the topic in January 2022
Qualifications:
- Experience in the operation and development of Azure environments.
- The data underlying the data model is very large and contains more than 3000 variables. Therefore, the ability to quickly familiarise yourself with complex, new topics, in close exchange with the business side, is a prerequisite for this task
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and experience with ETL pipelines.
- Experience with Synapse SQL
- Experience of developing tabular data models using Snowflake.
- Power BI knowledge
- Extensive experience with Azure environments, creating ETL pipelines, developing tabular data models using Snowflake, Power BI.
- Programming languages DAX, SQL
- Ability to quickly get to grips with complex issues - Translating business requirements into data models.
- Fluent English (project language is English)
- Experience in dealing with international service providers
