We are looking for a "QA Engineer – Manual Testing & Playwright Automation (Azure DevOps)" (m/f/d) for our client
Project Description
For our client, we are looking for an experienced QA Engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on manual testing as well as test automation with Playwright. In this role, you ensure that the client's software works the way users and the business expect. You design and execute thorough manual tests, grow the Playwright-based automation, and validate data through APIs.
You work closely with Product Owners, Designers, and developers in an Agile (Scrum) team, and you help raise the quality standards of the whole team. The role covers the full breadth of the testing process – from test case design to test execution (functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, UAT) through to defect management and release support. You also actively contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and documentation.

Project Parameters
Start: 01.12.2026
Duration: 10 months (until 30.09.2027)
Workload: Full-time (100%)
Location: Remote, with occasional travel to on-site workshops (for example: Düsseldorf, Madrid)
Important note: Nearshore/offshore resources are preferred by the client

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain manual test cases, test plans, and test scenarios based on business and technical requirements
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, and user acceptance testing (UAT) across different environments
  • Verify software performance from a user experience perspective and ensure compliance with business requirements
  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated tests using Playwright, and contribute to the automation of regression testing
  • Test APIs: retrieve data, analyze it, and use it for test validation
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using defect management tools
  • Reproduce issues, gather supporting evidence, and work closely with the development team to resolve defects
  • Validate bug fixes and conduct regression testing before releases
  • Assist with test data creation, test environment validation, and release verification
  • Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify gaps and improve test coverage
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and release activities
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Designers, and other stakeholders to understand workflows and expected outcomes
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and documentation

Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in software quality assurance or manual testing
  • Experience testing web, mobile, or enterprise software applications
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software testing lifecycle (STLC)
  • Experience creating and executing detailed test cases and test scripts
  • Working knowledge of test automation and of Playwright
  • Experience working with APIs and analyzing the returned data for testing purposes
  • Able to read code and understand unit tests at a basic level
  • Proficient in defect tracking and test management tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira, TestRail, Zephyr)
  • Familiar with Azure DevOps Boards (backlog, sprint planning, work item tracking) and Azure DevOps Test Plans (creating test cases/test suites, executing test runs, opening and assigning bugs)
  • Desirable: strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Desirable: excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
