For our client we are looking for a Lead OS Engineer (f/m/d).Outline data:
Start: asap / end of May 2024
Duration: 31.12.24++
Capacity: fulltime only
Location: Berlin, 75% remote (3 weeks remote/ 1 week onsite)
Role:
The infrastructure product group offers data center services that are provided for other product lines within the program. The Lead Operating System Engineer is member of the group of compute and storage engineers
within the infrastructure sub-product group (covering network, compute, and storage). Together with his team, the Lead Operating System Engineer builds the compute and storage environment as designed by the lead architect and core infrastructure architect.
As the entire project is following an agile framework, the Lead Engineer has the technical knowledge to translate the requirements given into the necessary implementation steps. Within this step the dependencies will be defined and the effort to build the designed functionality will be estimated. After this preparation step the implementation will be done, tested as defined and documented according to the project standards.

- Successful Operating System Engineering: The Lead Engineer has the knowledge to transfers the designs into the target environment. Together with his team, he tests and documents the environment accordingly.

- Integration into processes
Skills (must-have)
- Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu)
o Detailed knowledge about the Linux lifecycle (install, maintain, de-commission)
o Installation of new operating system on new and existing hardware
o Patching of operating systems
o Linux user management
o Integration into observability
- Linux management – administration / automation
o Automation integration with Ansible
o Installation, and configuration of DevOps and system management tools.
o Ability to develop new operating systems standards (golden image), maintenance of golden images
o Linux security and hardening
- Deep experience in at least two of the following tools:
o Ansible Automation Platform, RedHat Satellite Server and RedHat Identity Management System (IPA)
- Experience to use Jira, Confluence and Miro
Skills (should-have):
Ubuntu, LDAP, OAUTH, PKI Certificates, HashiCorp Vault and Packer, CIS Hardening, some common applications like Apache Webserver, Nginx, git, PostgreSql, Gitlab (Repo and Pipeline)
