Data Engineer

As a freelance Data Engineer with a strong background in manufacturing and industrial analytics, I bring over four years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics, and architecture. My career spans a wide range of projects in multinational corporations across Germany and the United States, delivering scalable, high-impact data solutions using modern cloud platforms and open-source technologies. My expertise lies in building robust data infrastructures that enable analytics and machine learning at scale. At ContiTech GmbH, I am instrumental in designing and implementing a comprehensive Data Lakehouse architecture on Azure Databricks to integrate manufacturing data across global plants. This role also includes identifying AI use cases on the shop floor, optimizing OT-IT data pipelines, and supporting edge AI capabilities—empowering global teams to scale intelligent solutions effectively. During my time at Continental AG, I focused on IT infrastructure and cybersecurity analytics, using technologies such as AWS Redshift, Matillion ETL, Dremio, and Python. I led the migration from an on-premise reporting system to a cloud-based solution, integrating data from over 15 sources using Data Vault methodology to enable both standard and self-service reporting. Previously at Tenaska Inc., I built end-to-end pipelines for analytics and machine learning, utilizing Azure Synapse, SQL Server, SSIS, and Python. I also created dynamic Tableau and Power BI dashboards, including a geospatial visualization tool for pipeline capacity, enhancing operational insight. In the early stages of my career, I developed a deep foundation in data analytics and project execution at companies like Porsche AG, Siemens Mobility, and Volkswagen AG. I built dashboards in QlikSense and Tableau, automated data pipelines in PostgreSQL, and supported sensor data analytics and real-time manufacturing reporting. These roles honed my ability to translate complex technical needs into actionable insights and scalable systems. Beyond hands-on experience, I’m a certified Databricks Data Engineer Professional, Azure Data Engineer Associate, and Data Vault 2.0 Practitioner. My academic path includes dual Master's degrees in Management Information Systems and Business Informatics from the University of Nebraska Omaha and TU Braunschweig, with a focus on data analytics and decision support systems. As a freelancer, I currently serve as an Instructor for Data Engineering & Analytics at Masterschool, leading live sessions and creating educational content on Python, SQL, Databricks, and ETL/ELT processes—demonstrating my ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
