Projekthistorie
Developed and executed high velocity multi body particle dynamics simulations in LS DYNA to evaluate discrete mass transport profiles across symmetric omnidirectional (4 pi steradians, approx. 1000 particles) and highly directional (60 degree half angle cone, approx. 1800 particles) flow configurations.
Implemented an interpolated, velocity dependent drag coefficient matrix (Cd(M)) to simulate severe supersonic deceleration from an initial velocity of 2280 m/s, replacing standard constant drag models to precisely capture velocity decay vectors across discrete target planes up to 50 m.
Benchmarked numerical spatial concentrations (approx. 5.97 particles per m^2 at 10 m) and trajectory decay vectors against classical fluid particle reference solutions, achieving near perfect correlation with an exceptionally tight maximum error margin of +5.08%.
Automated the extraction and spatial reconstruction of particle level state timelines using Python and LS PrePost from binary solver databases (D3PLOT, NODOUT, GLSTAT); verified numerical solver stability via energy balance checks to maintain an elite energy drift well under 0.1%.
Imported parametric complex geometries from SolidWorks into LS DYNA to execute high fidelity, transient non-linear explicit dynamic simulations replicating structural impact against rigid surface boundaries.
Established precise physical governing equations by defining an initial velocity vector of 6.2 m/s (1.98 m drop
height) and deploying advanced CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_SURFACE_TO_SURFACE card parameters to capture localized surface mechanics.
Calibrated complex elastoplastic polymer material models within the solver to achieve high-accuracy correlation, successfully validating a first rebound height of 0.802 m (80 cm) to prove official regulation compliance.
Extracted and evaluated transient displacement-time histories and strain plots to analyze multi-axial structural deformation, kinetic energy dissipation rates, and elastic recovery profiles under maximum compression.
Determining the hydraulic head derived the design for the turbine chamber, calculation of flow rate from the inlets, and further operating conditions.
StarCCM+ was used to carry out the simulation for the CAD model and further fluid domain generation carrying out the polyhedral mesh with prism layers to analyse the boundary layer.
SST k-omega turbulence model ensured smooth transient state simulation through which flow separation,
recirculation, pressure loss and velocity profiles were extracted.
Introduction of the Turbine using DFBI and further optimisation of the setup for better RPM & efficiency.
