IBM DB2 & IBM IMS TM/DB specialist with 40 years experience

Upgrading IBM DB2 environments through major version changes, while coordinating database, security, recovery, and application requirements, has been a central part of my work for more than 35 years. The combination of technical leadership, business intelligence, and team building described in this role matches both my background and my motivation: “Excellence is not a skill; it’s a habit, and I love the challenge.”

During 22 years with IBM across Germany, Europe, and America, I worked with government, banking, insurance, automotive, pharmaceutical, and other industry clients. For the past 15 years in Somerset West, my consulting work has supported IBM and South African clients through database administration, migrations, performance tuning, security, and project coordination. I have managed DB2 upgrades across LUW and z/OS environments, including Parallel Sysplex, DB2plex, and IMSplex configurations, while connecting technical decisions to operational continuity and client priorities.

Business Intelligence (BI), data warehousing, data staging, and reporting have also been recurring elements of my work. I have supported SAP database environments, Oracle-to-DB2 migrations, disaster recovery planning, and security work involving RACF. My experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), IBM DB2, SAP, Oracle, and IBM Cognos enables me to contribute across both the platform and business-data sides of a team. Just as important, years of consulting and education have taught me to explain complex database decisions clearly to clients, developers, administrators, and managers.
