Software Engineer

I created a data warehouse for medical device data. This enabled the company to leverage and scale the
uses of their device related data (like bio medical signals and technical events) for medical research,
product development and many more use cases. During this period I learned how to build and grow a
friendly, interdisciplinary data team.

Noteworthy projects and responsibilities:

• Built and grew a data team from 1 to 6 people
• Created an extensive ecosystem of Python packages to access and process data of internal embedded devices
• Built a data architecture including a data warehouse for medical device data, meeting the demands of multiple departments like medical research, product development, regulatory affairs, external partners, customer services, risk assessment (Python, PostgreSQL, SQLalchemy, pandas, numpy, JupyterLab, docker)
• Developed an internal framework for annotating data by domain experts (Python/FastAPI, SQLalchemy, ReactJS)
• Deployed multiple cloud-native applications to Azure (Kubernetes, Pulumi, docker, Azure AD B2C, oauth2-proxy)
• Mentoring students, juniors and new hires
• Relevant contact point for all data related requirements

Integrated into a skilled team of backend, frontend and UX engineers I architected and co-created a
landscape of microservices to power a custom built, customer facing chatbot. At Øneway I learned to
contribute in a high intensity environment with ever changing variables.

Noteworthy contributions:

• Co-architected and implemented a chatbot to enable automated high-class travel planing and booking using a microservice architecture (Python/Django and TypeScript in backend services, ReactJS in frontend services, docker)
• Improved the testing infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines (pytest, Selenium, codeship, GitLab, pipelines, docker)
• Deep integration with CRM (Salesforce) and marketing automation (Mailchimp)
• Technically evaluated and integrated several external domain-specific platforms
• Main contact point for product management in the development team to shape user stories and new features
• Co-created an internal tool to efficiently create individual high-quality PDF offer brochures (Python/Django, ReactJS)

During and after finishing my Diploma in Computer Science I worked as a freelancer. The work ranged
from quickly iterating on web agency projects with Django to supporting ReadTheDocs.org with Open
Source community work. This time thought me intensively to take full ownership of the entire lifecycle of
projects. Open and precise communication with the clients was crucial.

Noteworthy projects:

• Won a Google Summer of Code 2011 Grant to work on the Django web framework
• Won a 6 -month grant to work with the marvelous Read the Docs project, doing support work in
• GitHub, ticket triaging and bug fixing
• Built a custom web shop for quoting and ordering custom made stickers using Django
• Maintained and extended a custom built CRM system for Transporeon GmbH using Django
• Built a custom Dropbox-style SPA interface using Angular
• Developed multiple large multi-site, multi-language Django projects for a large web agency
• Consulted for a research oriented framework to run economic psychology experiments
