Location: Manchester (expectation of 1 day in the office per week)
Working within IS team the Data Architect will have an organisation wide view of the clients Data, shaping the data architecture that will used by internal and external stakeholders. The Data Architect has responsible a responsibility for strategic direction of our data platform and will drive data innovation include our adoption of Cloud data tools.
You will work closely with IS Data Analysts and Developers in the provisioning, development and support of our strategic data platforms. You will also devise strategic changes to our data estate working closely with Technical Architects, Enterprise Architect, Product Managers, DBA's and Lead Developers.
Main responsibilities
- Take a lead in the design and development of strategic data platforms and our migration to a Cloud Data Architecture.
- Design and build data marts required for enterprise wide Business Intelligence and operational reporting.
- Define a clear strategic Data Architecture roadmap in alignment with wider IS requirements.
- To lead Data & Technology innovation by identifying emergent technologies that can provide business benefit and document technical recommendations that address current and future Data needs.
- Work across the enterprise to ensure best practice development methodologies are employed striving for efficiency and simplification to enable rapid deployment of change.
Key skills- technical knowledge and skills
- Experience of building data warehouses/data marts, ETL and delivering enterprise scale MI/BI platforms (preferably with Oracle/Microsoft technologies).
- Experience of designing solutions on enterprise scale data platforms and producing architectural documentation (using frameworks such as TOGAF etc).
- Highly desirable is Azure data engineering, Azure DF or Synapse Analytics
- Knowledge and experience with data migration and data integration tools (such as Informatica) and methods in best practice.
- Experience of using software modelling techniques in designing data architectures and platforms
