Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a MI & Data Analyst for an initial contract until 31st July on a salary of £32,794 - £38,252 per annum pro-rata. Due to the current circumstances this role will be remote based for the foreseeable future.Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and deliver reports or data extracts for internal and external use, creating solutions to customer reporting requirements and using appropriate reporting applications, eg, Advanced Excel, Power BI
- Devise, challenge and agree MI rules to be used for reporting purposes
- Manage and reconcile large, raw datasets, for accuracy and data quality in advance of reporting and analysis
- Investigate discrepancies and create bespoke fixes and workarounds, while working with internal colleagues and external contractors to resolve
- Provide analysis of performance results, identifying trends and patterns over time and supplying narrative around findings
- Develop and maintain relevant documentation to support creation and maintenance of reports
- Deliver any training required to enable customers to make best use of the reports produced for them
- Prepare responses to external FOI other requests for complex data and information, often to very tight deadlines
- Undertake UAT and regression testing as needed to ensure accuracy of MI reports following system changes
- Take personal responsibility to maintain knowledge and develop practice in the reporting and presentation of business intelligence
- Protect the reputation of the organisation by ensuring accuracy of data for internal and external reporting purposes
Essential Skills:
- Qualified to at least SCQF level 9 (degree level), ideally in a relevant subject area (eg, Economics, Business Management, Statistics, Data Science) or equivalent work experience
- Experience of working with large datasets to produce management information reports
- Experience of presenting data in a variety of formats
- Experience of using various reporting applications such as Advanced Excel and Microsoft Power BI
- Experience of analysing performance information to identify trends and support service improvement
- Experience in building strong working relationships with internal customers and external partners and working in internal cross-team working groups
- Understanding of approaches to data quality governance
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence software/systems and demonstrable skills in their application
- Data visualisation skills
- Confident and competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Skills:
- Project Management experience
- Use of statistical analysis packages
