For our customer, an inter-governmental organisation located in Darmstadt/Germany we are looking for a Software Engineer.
TASKS
The Consultant shall provide support to requirements analysis, architecture design and requirement implementation as well as maintenance and configuration, software in support to the administration and user management.
PROFILE
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, the Consultant shall have a minimum of five years experience of software development, operation or maintenance in Real Time systems and be familiar with data transfer technologies and with high availability requirements. The Consultant shall have a significant work experience in the Sun Solaris and Linux, Windows (2000, XP and 2003) Operating System environments, and should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks, with networking, distributed applications, TCP/IP services, Service Oriented Architectures,Web Services and Web Technologies.
Knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory:
- Expert knowledge in Java, XML and Perl programming languages and operating system Scripting languages covering the entire software life cycle;
- In depth knowledge of the development and maintenance of Java applications and services also using Tomcat, Apache Enterprise Server;
- In depth experience of application- and process-level scheduling and monitoring and control functions;
- Source Code control system, preferably IBM Rational Clear Case or SubVersion;
- Formalised Software Testing;
- Very good communication, presentation and team working skills;
- Experience of 24/7 operations;
Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following will be an advantage:
- Development of Java based graphical interfaces;
- Data base application programming using JDBC;
- Application level expertise of Oracle and MySQL;
- World Meteorological Organisation related dissemination protocols and formats;
- Writing of formal technical documentation.
The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The working language for the position is English, French knowledge is an advantage.
