Background:
My client is a leading international financial organisation with offices in London, Frankfurt and Luxembourg; they provide Financial Markets with software applications and services for trading. They are now looking for a NetBackup Administrator to join their Storage & Backup Infrastructure team, in a Production environment.
Tasks:
Assist in the testing and deployment of scheduled NetBackup product updates and patches;
Handle NetBackup support issues.
Check tape drives, robotics and solve issues if any;
Check NetBackup availability and react if any issue;
Check NetBackup/Appliances de-duplication status;
Install NetBackup clients if required (package);
Install Database agent for NetBackup (package);
Check backup of catalogue and restart jobs if necessary;
Check, troubleshoot and restart failed backups;
Start backups on demand if requested during migration or implementation.
Essential Skills:
Deep experience with Symantec NetBackup v.7.x on RedHat Linux (Windows platforms would be a plus) including GUI and command lines;
Symantec de-duplication solution (based on 5x30) including the VMWare configuration;
Experience in Scripting (BASH, KSH and/or PERL on Linux);
Experience with support, troubleshooting, and problem investigation for tape backups and SAN environments;
Oracle hardware libraries and drives (SL8500+T10K) knowledge;
System knowledge (RedHat Linux - Windows and VMWare would be a plus);
Ability to work in a production environment;
Languages: English, German, (any French would be a plus but not essential)
