Netbackup Consultant/6 Month Contract/Konstanz, Germany/Circa 600 EUR per day
My client, a global IT services company, has an ongoing engagement with a leading pharmaceutical company and they are seeking a Netbackup Consultant to implement Netbackup in a new environment and migrate from HP Data Protector.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience (design and operation) with NetBackup and HP Data Protector
- Experience of migration from HP Data Protector to NetBackup
- Installation of Master/Media backup Servers
- Describe short-term and long-term target backup architectures and recommendations
- Server/Client installations
- Configuring disk libraries(CDL)
- Backup, Restore monitoring & troubleshooting
- Telephonic and Email based User/Vendor Management
- Documentation skills
- Recovery of Backup Server from failure
- Performing Patching & Up gradation activities
- Ensure all backup jobs are scheduled appropriately and expediently
- Change Planning and Implementation
- Disaster Recovery Support ( plan, participate)
- Migration from one Backup tool to another tool
- Tape Library Configuration and Administration
- Upgrading Versions
- Scripting/Automation of Major/Complex Tasks
- Integrating with other tools: Enterprise Management Systems
- Optimizing Media Consumption
- Establish Backup and Recovery Procedures for in scope resources
- Should be well versed with backup and recovery planning and implementation
- Client installation
- Trouble shouting
- Conduct a formal presentation and basic product functional overview to familiarize the customer with the current issues and future recommendations
- Media Management & Vendor Coordination
- Expertise on NetBackup and HP Data Protector
Key skills required: (in the order of priority)
- Symantec NetBackup
- Good to have - Unix & Windows administration skills
- Should be well versed with backup and recovery planning and implementation
- Implementing new Backup Infrastructure (including Disk Libraries and Tape Libraries)
- Migration of Backup Software from Symantec to HP Data Protector
- Tape naming conventions for new environment
- Server/Client installations
- Backup troubleshooting
- Should have used a monitoring framework
- Configuration, monitoring & analysing event, alert logs and appropriate actions taking
- Strong troubleshooting skills in Backup environment and solving problems
