2.1 Introduction The scope of work comprises the modeling and simulation of bearing units with consideration of different mounting conditions, the evaluation and the reporting. For all steps a binding specification is going to be supplied. For this calculation the software Abaqus, Version 6.14 is to be used for all steps (pre-processing with Abaqus /CAE, solver Abaqus /standard, post processing with Abaqus /CAE). A total of approximately 10 calculation runs for adjustment of axial preload with / without support ring (Picture 2) will be required.

2.2 Work Packages For this task, two half-symmetric FE-models similar to Picture 1 for the bearing unit have to be created. The difference between both models is an additional support ring for the lower bearing ring with an effect on the bolt geometry.

The following steps have to be taken:
* Generate bearing geometry from CAD data
* Simplification of geometry for analysis
* Creation of standardized geometry of adjacent parts
* Creation of assembly for all parts including bolts
* Meshing, contact definition and creation of boundary conditions etc.
* Creation of rolling elements
* Step-wise calculation: '- contact initialization '- application of bolt loads '- variation of preload in axial rolling element sets until target value is reached (approximately 5 iterations per model). The preload value (distance) is varied as a parameter in the supplied sub Routine d. Parameter analyses for loads (axial positive, axial negative, radial, tilting moment) as restarts after step c, 10 increments per load type
